SickKids First Paediatric Hospital to Receive REVE 3D Dental Imaging Diagnostic Tool

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 9, 2013) - SickKids Foundation is pleased to announce a donation from Vatech America and Sinclair Dental that will provide healthcare professionals at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) with enhanced, state-of-the-art three-dimensional imaging diagnostics for patients who require specialized dental care.

 

The Vatech REVE Panoramic/Cephalometric CBCT unit will give the SickKids dental team the ability to see three dimensional views of the patient's head, jaw and teeth, as well as provide 'pulsed scan exposure' which allows ultra-low dose, two-dimensional views of the head and oral cavity.

 

"Compared to traditional CT, the REVE uses far less radiation to produce these diagnostic images," says Dr. Peter Judd, Dentist-in-Chief, SickKids. "This is especially important for children, for whom it is most important to minimize radiation exposure."

 

The device, worth $240,000, will be used for patients who require oral surgical and complex cranio-facial procedures, including reconstructive surgery, implants, orthodontics and endodontics.
