Welfare at the level of large companies…warm-hearted consideration …"I want to work here"

9 small and medium enterprises including Nextchip, Luxco, Vatech, and Hallacast were the recipients of this year’s “most sought-after small and medium enterprises selected by labor and management.”

The ceremony for the “most sought-after small and medium enterprises selected by labor and management in 2009” was held on the 21st at the Dasan Hall on the 18th floor of the Korean Economic Daily and attended by 60 participants including winners. This is the second awarding ceremony following the first one last year. The event is co-hosted by the Korean Labor Foundation and Korean Economic Daily and sponsored by the Federation of Korean Trade Unions, Korea Employers’ Federation, Korea Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business, and Small & Medium Business Corporation.

This year, the winners include semiconductor production company Nextchip, industrial plant material production company Luxco, dental X-ray device manufacturer Vatech, software developer Systembank, and Xener systems. Automobile parts manufacturer Ajin Industrial and Korea BorgWarner TS, pharmaceutical company Korea Astellas, and metal injection company Hallacast were also selected.

"Although most young people avoid small and medium enterprises, there are actually many good small and medium enterprises offering wage, welfare, and vision at the level of large companies. This ceremony is held to improve recognition of small and medium businesses by finding and promoting good companies as the most sought-after small and medium enterprises,” said Young-Dal Kim, executive secretary of the Korean Labor Foundation, during the ceremony.

The foundation received applications from small and medium enterprises in the country from March 9 to April 10. A screening committee consisting of 7 members selected sought-after small and medium enterprises garnering more than 80% of a total of 150 points during the document examination 100 points and actual inspection 50 points. For the selected companies, information on job openings is posted on www.job.net and www.korchambiz.net of the Korea Chamber of Commerce & Industry as well as the employment centers of universities in the country. In addition, they get to promote their image through media, radio campaign, and publication of casebook.

”After this ceremony, small and medium businesses in general will be revitalized as the most sought-after small and medium enterprises in our country,” said Ho-Hwan Park, chairman of the screening committee professor at the business management school of Ajou University.
