Established to create a “happy workplace” for employees with young children even though the company has no legal obligation.

  • Designed to provide a top rated childcare system and support employees to have work and life balance.
  •

Global No.1 Dental Imaging Company, VATECH (CEO Chang-jun Noh and Samuel Ahn, www.vatechcorp.co.kr) received two awards from the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) and Korea Worker’s Compensation and Welfare Service (KWCWS) for running Korea’s best on-site childcare center.

On Dec. 15th, VATECH was chosen as ‘the exemplary case’ for providing and running an on-site daycare center in the company and received for the first time in Gyeggido a minister’s award. In addition to this, VATECH awarded the second place in environmental design among the companies selected for ‘the exemplary on-site childcare providers 2016’ by KWCWS.

These recognitions are especially meaningful because VATECH is not legally abided to provide an on-site childcare center according to the National childcare law no.14001. However, the company opened EWOO Children’s Center in this March regardless, believing providing employees with proper childcare service is a key to creating a ‘happy workplace’.

EWOO Children’s Center is the two-story building which covers 1,443 ㎡. Inside of the center has a teacher’s office, a nurse’s office, a cafeteria, children’s library, indoor and outdoor playgrounds which specifically design to capture young children’s taste and interest. In addition to these facilities, the center has a baseball stadium-size gym where children can enjoy various indoor physical activities.

The center installed, for the first time in Korean, an automatic monitoring system which controls air quality, noise level and the amount of light over the whole facilities.

A spacious building and top-rated facilities are not the only advantages that EWOO Children's Center offers. The center also focused on developing a customized nurturing system which every teacher has his or her special field. At the same time, the center maintains teacher-to-child ratio 1:2 for children under 1-year old. This ratio is even lower than 1:3 (teacher-to-child) ratio which the law recommends.

Furthermore, EWOO Children's Center provide education programs for parents which allow them to share the center's educational philosophy and make them more actively involve in the center's activities.

Hyun-jin Kim, the headmistress of EWOO Children’s Center, remarked “EWOO Children’s Center was established under VATECH CEO’s philosophy that “The best product and company begins from a happy employee even though the company is not obligated by the law.” She continued “By making our center as an example, we will encourage other companies to follow the same suit.”
